In a report from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), Continental Tire is recalling a few of its tire models due to the risks of tread belt separation. The separation of tread belts could greatly increase your chances of having a serious Missouri car accident

The tire recall involves the following models:

  • Contitrac TR BSW - size LT275/70R18 125/122S with outline white letters and black sidewall;
  • Contitrac TR OWL - size LT275/70R18 125/122S; and
  • Contitrac - size LT275/0R18 125/122S with black sidewall.

These were manufactured from May 6, 2007 through Sept 20, 2008 and sold/installed on some Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks modeled in 2008 and 2009.

The tires could experience parting on the edges of the belt, leading to tread belt separation. This is especially true when the vehicle is hauling an overload of cargo, or the tires are underinflated when the temperature is very high.
