June 10, 2011 - The EKSuccess Brand that distributes American Girl Crafts jewelry kits have recalled this defective product because of high levels of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported.

The American Girl Crafts jewelry kits that allow children to assemble their own bracelets contain beads that have been painted to look like pearls. Unfortunately, the paint used on these pearly beads has been reported to carry lead levels above the standards mandated by federal law.

The American Girl Crafts jewelry kits that have been recalled are encoded with the SKU number 30-585331, which is located on the back of the package. These kits contain 56 pieces, including pearly beads and ribbon bracelets. The beads are pink, orange, blue and white. The ribbons are orange, blue, red and purple.

No injuries have been reported but consumers are advised to remove these kits from children and to call the company for a refund: 1-855-535-2099.
