According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), some Ford 500 and Mercury Montego vehicles are being recalled due to a potential fuel leakage. A fuel leakage can cause an unexpected vehicle explosion that could harm you or others on the road. When in need of legal help, speak with your Missouri defective product lawyer.

This recall affects model year 2007 Ford 500 and 2007 Mercury Montego vehicles manufactured between Sept. 5 and Sept.11, 2006. The problem lies with the strength of the joint, due to potential inconsistent welds between the fuel filler neck spud and the fuel tank.

If there is a severe rear-end collision to the vehicle, the weld could crack, resulting in a potential leakage of fuel. This could then lead to a possible vehicle fire.

The fuel tank is being replaced for free, with the recall taking place around Aug. 15, 2011. Owners of these vehicles should contact the customer service department at Ford Motor Company.

If you have suffered injuries as a result of a defect in a vehicle or another type of product, you should consult with a Missouri defective product lawyer to discuss what options are available for you to file a Missouri defective product claim.
