Pfizer Pays $896 Million to settle over 6,000 Prempro lawsuits

Pfizer produced a hormone replacement drug called Prempro, and injured women all over the country have filed lawsuits over the years, alleging that the company's units failed to warn the women about the drug's health risk, including its link to breast cancer.  After litigating many of the cases and losing about 50% of those cases, the company has paid $896 million towards resolving about 60% of the lawsuits, while setting aside about $330 million more to attempt to resolve the remaining suits. Pfizer settled the cases for an average of $150,000 each.  Some attorneys who have not settled their clients, cases do not feel that the payout is enough for their particular clients and have vowed to continue litigating their cases.
