Most people who apply for Social Security find that the Social Security application and appeals process goes painfully slow.   However, Social Security does have an obligation to provide benefits as fast as possible to applicants whose medical conditions are so serious that their conditions obviously meet the requirements for disability.  The Social Security Adminstration has identified certain medical conditions that qualify almost automatically for immediate benefits. These medical conditions are known as Compassionate Allowances Conditions.  Compassionate Allowances give the Social Security Administration the opportunity to target the most obviously disabled individuals for benefits based on medical information that can be obtained quickly.
