St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Editorial Board posted an opinion article today regarding their feelings towards the failing Second Injury Fund system in Missouri.

Although the Second Injury Fund was created to encourage employer's to hire injured military veterans returning from WWII, it is now an incentive for employers to hire workers who were previously injured by providing compensation to those workers for the way their previous injuries affect them in combination with their work injuries.  The Fund, however, is now broke and workers who were awarded compensation by the state's workers' compensation commission are going without the money they were awarded.  The Post-Dispatch is encouraging Missouri lawmakers to look past their differences and keep the promises made to 713 Missouri workers.
