This past Thursday, Ford has voluntarily recalled over 25,000 vehicles on the market. An accident in St. Charles, Missouri involving a recalled automobile can require in-depth legal maneuvering. A St. Charles, Missouri personal injury attorney can help you navigate the claims process when you've been injured in an auto accident due to another's negligence.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Ford's recall that includes trucks, vans, and SUVs of various makes and models. According to the NHTSA the recall is due to a brake-light problem. This brake-light issue has reportedly affected 26,715 vehicles in total.

The specific models being recalled include:

  • Ford E-250 (2002-2007 model years);
  • Ford E-350 (2002-2007 model years);
  • Ford E-450 (2002-2007 model years);
  • Ford E-550 (2002-2007 model years);
  • Ford Excursion (2002-2005 model years); and
  • Ford Ranger (2004-2011 model years).

NHTSA officials believe the defective brake lights came from Ford's Twin Cities Assembly Plant and dealers who fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. They also say that the defect may cause turn signal, taillights, hazard warning signals, and brake lights to fail.

Owners of Ford trucks that have the defect, can go to a Ford dealership to replace the brake light switch, free of charge, beginning on August 15.
