September 23 2011 - According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) is recalling certain child seat harnesses due to the lack of protection they provide.
DJG has issued a recall on several models of a child seat harness that potentially affects 794,247 units.
The malfunctioning harness can be found on:
- infant;
- convertible; and
- booster seat restraint systems.
The locking and release button on some of the harnesses don't always function properly. The result is a child being able to slip out of the harness.
It is possible that a child could move around in the seat and become improperly harnessed. If the car were to be involved in a crash, a child who is not properly restrained could be seriously injured.
Child restraint systems included in this recall are:
- Alpha Omega;
- Alpha Omega Elite;
- Enspira;
- Priori;
- Prospect; and
- Vantage.
Registered owners will receive instructions and a repair kit free of charge. Additionally, a label indicating the repair has taken place will also be sent. Non-registered owners can contact DJG directly for a repair kit.
