September 23, 2011 - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that certain BMW models are being recalled due to faulty exterior lighting.

The following models from manufacturing years 2002-2005 are being recalled by BMW:

  • 325I;
  • 325XI;
  • 3301; and
  • 330XI.

The lights can stop working, which could lead to another motorist not knowing the intentions of the driver and potentially causing a crash.

The recall is issued because of a defect in the exterior lighting:

brake lights;

tail lights; and/or

the turn signal.

Owners will be notified by BMW and the dealership will provide a free repair. This recall is expected to begin in October 2011. Consumers can also contact BWM directly.
